Guidelines
Competition Rules
The Civil Engineering Profession has always maintained a high level of diversity as it plays such an important role in the development of our society. On some level, Civil engineers affect every aspect of day-to-day living and as a result, our profession has developed many links to other disciplines. Students are asked to display this diversity through a static visual display.
The display must be a 3D miniature model designed and made by the students and must display this year’s theme. The theme is “Civil Engineering Around Your Campus.” (Examples may include but are not limited to landmarks, historic buildings, and other civil engineering feats around your campus.) The display will be placed on the floor; no tables will be provided. Teams may bring a table to support their display but the whole display should fit within a zone 3 ft wide, 3 ft deep, and 3 ft tall, including their base. The display will be disqualified if it does not fit within the dimensions.
Each display must include either a changing visual or audio device. These devices may include bells, whistles, traffic signals, artificial daylight/nightlight, etc. Each display must be self-sufficient, i.e. no electricity will be provided. Also the display should not exceed $100 from beginning to end.
More specifications toward the placement of objects will be distributed once we have a total count of schools participating in the event.
Scoring
The display will be scored as follows:
15 points: Expression of the theme (Civil Engineering Around Your Campus)
7.5 points: Creativity
7.5 points: Quality and aesthetics
10 points: Adherence to dimensional limitations.
